“Take A Seat”

In reading through the Bible we have to be very careful that certain portions don’t loose their importance and meaning to us.  Simple everyday actions have been labeled as unimportant and quickly moved beyond without fully grasping their utmost significance.  Once such account is recorded here in this verse….how Jesus ‘sat down’.  He didn’t sit down because He was tired, or just because He was ‘hanging’ out with His Father (as we in the natural would do) – His sitting has eternal implications for our lives.

Jesus came and lived upon this earth, perfectly fulfilling the will of His Father (even to death).  Whilst hanging upon the cross He cried out these words –‘it is finished’.  In the language of that day the word used here was in reference to an accounting term-meaning the debt is paid in full.  Thus, when Jesus died (before His Resurrection) He was boldly proclaiming that He had fully accomplished His mission to this earth, and that everything has been financed and completed….nothing was left to further accomplish.  This is why He was able to sit down beside the Father….His job had been completed.

What incredible meaning that possesses for each one of us.  He is sitting down in complete victory and authority.  That means that we too can be a part of that finished work.  Each one of us are a work in progress, but what an encouragement it is to know that God has already completed His end of the deal, and now we can see that completion take shape in our daily lives.

Every time you feel discouraged and down, remind yourself that Christ has completed the work for your life.  We have to rise above such ‘negativity’, limiting feelings and push through claiming our total freedom.  We can claim healing for our bodies, Salvation for our families, favor and blessing in the work place, direction and strength, restored relationships, financial miracles…the list is endless!  Why?  Because He accomplished what He came to fulfill, and now He is ‘sat down’ beside the Father.
